Derby Book Festival proves a huge success with improved visitor numbers for 2017!

We were proud to be sponsors of the Opening Event to this year’s Derby Book Festival which went down a storm with attendees and supporters alike across its 9 consecutive days, in a variety of venues across Derby city centre.

As part of the third annual Derby Book Festival, we sponsored world-renowned author Sebastian Faulks’ Opening Event on the evening of the 9th June – held at the stunning Derby Cathedral. Sebastian Faulks is well-known for writing both ‘Birdsong’ and ‘Charlotte Gray’ – amongst many other great literary works. Several members of the Peveril Homes and Bowmer & Kirkland teams were in attendance to hear from Sebastian on the night.

We’d approached Derby Book Festival earlier in the year to see if we could sponsor an event as part of this year’s festival – and the organisers were very happy to welcome Peveril Homes on board and work in partnership with us for this year’s event.

Derby Book Festival has already indicated that this year’s event has surpassed last year’s attendance total overall – increasing from 4,030 ticket sales in 2016, to 4,750 ticket sales in 2017!

The festival appeals to all ages through the joy of books, with a programme that brings together a collection of writers, poets, historians, politicians, illustrators, storytellers and musicians, across a range of venues to ensure that there is something for everyone.

We are pleased to see that 2017 was a success for the organisers and volunteers – with around 80 volunteers taking part to bring the celebrations to life. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the organisers of the Derby Book Festival for having us on board for 2017 and we are already looking forward to next year’s event!
