Characterised by its distinctive stone buildings and green open spaces, Fritchley is the very definition of a quintessential Derbyshire village, offering the peace and tranquility only village life can bring.

Home to the world’s oldest railway tunnel, built in 1793, friendliness and a sense of community is at Fritchley’s heart, and events such as quiz nights, historical talks and fish and chip suppers regularly bring local people together at the Congregational Hall or Village Green.

And if it’s real ale in a traditional pub you’re after, look no further than the Red Lion in the village, or the Old Black Swan just a little further in Crich.

Local Amenities

Only 2 miles away, Crich Tramway Village is a fantastic day out for all the family – including the canine members!

Visitors can step back in time as they wander along a period street, complete with pub and sweet shop
selling traditional treats from a bygone age.
