Branston Pupils Welcomed to New Fairfields Development!

Branston pupils welcomed to new Fairfields development!

We believe that it’s important to provide inspiration for the children of our local communities, so our team got in touch with Rykneld Primary School in Burton-on-Trent to offer pupils the opportunity of an exciting tour around homes at different build stages.

Miss Kirstie Gregson, Early Years Foundation Stage Lead at Rykneld Primary School, organised the children’s excursion and a total of three classes from Reception year were invited along to our Fairfields development, located in the popular residential area of Burton.

The charming collection of 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes is only a stone’s throw from the primary school, so the four and five-year-olds were able to walk to the development. Miss Gregson said: “The children were all so excited for their day out as they haven’t had the chance to experience a trip up until now because of the pandemic.

“The lovely sales team and site manager from the Fairfields development even helped the children to cross the road, which I thought was a lovely touch, showing that they really cared about the children’s welfare.”

Equipped with the hard hats and high-vis jackets that Peveril Homes provided, the pupils first went to see a house that was at ‘first fix’, meaning that wiring was still on show, before the plasterboard had been installed.

Miss Gregson said: “The children couldn’t believe their eyes and a few asked where the furniture was! It was the first time that they had seen a house that wasn’t lived-in.”

On the walk to the next house on their tour, the Reception pupils were able to witness a digger and forklift truck in action, with one boy saying: “I want to be a digger driver when I grow up, it looks so fun!”

The children were able to see what it takes to build a new home, all the way from laying 10,000 bricks to the electrics that are hidden behind smooth plaster and fresh paint. Senior site manager, Adam Pinder, showed the children how to build a wall and showcased the outstanding construction quality that Peveril Homes is proud of.

Miss Gregson commented: “I was so impressed with the care that goes into constructing each home at Peveril and you can see that they are built with the purchaser in mind.”

She continued: “The children were allowed to keep their hard hats and high-vis jackets and take them back to the school. We plan to take these with us on future class trips to help keep our pupils safe.

“We also have an outdoor area for the Reception pupils to pretend-play as builders, so they will also enjoy wearing the hats and jackets in playtime.”

We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming the pupils of Rykneld Primary School to Fairfields, and we look forward to this development becoming part of the local community.

Fairfields will be offering a range of homes including The Attenborough, The Milford, The Trent, The Tissington, and many more.
