Interior styling

The beauty of purchasing a brand new home is that you will not be inheriting a previous owner’s tastes or questionable DIY projects. How you choose to style your new home is a completely personal choice, applied to a blank canvas.

Giving our buyers a genuine choice when it comes to their interiors is incredibly important to us at Peveril Homes; we know that the building you live in is only part of the story – making it your own is a vital step that ensures you are fully satisfied with your interiors for years to come.

Considering your interior styling options

You probably already have a good idea of what your dream home looks like on the inside, but here are a few things to consider before making your final decisions.

Defining your style

Think about the kind of atmosphere you’d like your new home to project. A home that is designed to be refreshing and revitalising will look very different to one that aims to relax and restore. Of course, each room in your home can take on a personality of its own depending on its use, but choosing a consistent theme for the high traffic areas such as living rooms, kitchens, hallways and shared bathrooms will keep your interiors looking polished and well put together.

Refining your palette

It can be tempting to try and incorporate a lot of your favourite colours when choosing a palette for your new home and this makes it easy to go overboard. Limiting your palette to a smaller number of colours and shades will help your interiors to flow and help you

make better use of natural light throughout the day. Having said this, newly built homes do require a period of settling before the walls are papered or painted with your chosen shades. We will always advise you when the best time to decorate your new home is and can make recommendations on high quality wall coverings and coatings.

Deciding on your layout

When you move into a previously owned home, the chances are you will see the former owner’s furniture layout and will replicate this to some degree. Entering a brand new home allows you to leave your preconceptions on interior layouts at the door so you can focus on experimenting to discover what works best for you and your family.
