New Home Energy Efficiency

New Home Energy Efficiency

Newer homes are more energy efficient when compared to older properties for many reasons. Modern building techniques, the materials used in construction, and the appliances used all mean that you can save money and reduce that very important environmental impact.

When looking for the perfect place to call home, there’s many factors to consider. Once you’ve decided on your budget, the size needed and your ideal location, there’s also the question of whether you want to purchase a new build home or an older house.

Rising energy prices have been a concern for many people over the last year, and studies have found that over two thirds of the UK population worry about the impact of increasing energy bills and their ability to stay warm at home.

The positive news is that by purchasing or moving to an energy efficient new home, you can still reap the benefits of a cosy and warm home without having to loosen the purse strings. In fact, the “Watt a Save” report by the Home Builders Federation found that new build home owners can make significant savings to their annual energy bills, reducing costs by £1,600 (on average) a year.

Why are new build homes more energy efficient?

Newer homes are more energy efficient when compared to older properties for many reasons. Modern building techniques, the materials used in construction, and the appliances used all mean that you can save money and reduce that very important environmental impact.

Higher EPC ratings

All properties in the UK must carry an Energy Performance Certificate, which contains information about the property’s energy use. It covers lighting, heating and hot water, and each home receives an energy rating from A, most efficient, to G, least efficient. In their report, the Home Builders Federation discovered that new homes carry much higher EPC ratings than existing properties, with 85% of new homes having an energy rating of A-B.

At Peveril Homes, our commitment to cost and energy efficient homes and reducing our own carbon footprint means we utilise modern construction methods. This means that all our new build homes are rated as B for energy efficiency. Our properties are built with our customers and the environment in mind – they retain heat, thanks to our innovative construction methods and materials:

Effective insulation

Our new build homes are built with effective insulation installed in the lofts, walls, and floor. We offer 150mm wall insulation and up to 450mm of roof insulation.

Double glazing on all properties

By trapping air between two panes of glass, double glazing can reduce heat loss from windows, helping to regulate the temperature of your new build home and keep you cosy in the winter and cool in the summer.

We also install state of the art A-rated appliances

Our meticulously constructed energy efficient homes benefit from state-of-the-art A-rated appliances, including Zanussi fridge freezers, AEG cooking appliances, and highly efficient boilers and gas central heating.

Our modern boilers are more energy efficient and reduce the risks of any breakdowns, meaning you can rest assured that you’re not spending unnecessary amounts just to stay warm.

Why buy a new build home?

As well as increasing energy efficiency, new build homes are chain free with different ways to purchase and reduce the need for DIY.

It doesn’t stop there – all our homes come with a 10-year build warranty and 2 year Peveril Homes warranty, providing new owners with peace of mind which those buying an existing property do not have.
