Honour for Peveril Homes at 60th Anniversary of RoSPA Awards
Midlands based developer Peveril Homes has won the President’s Award in the 60th anniversary year of a prestigious industry event designed to recognise health and safety excellence.
The company, which is based in Belper, achieved the honour at the internationally renowned Health and Safety Awards run by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
It is the 11th time the developer has achieved the President’s Award, which it received during a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on July 14, as the event marked its diamond anniversary.
As the UK’s safety charity, RoSPA aims to save lives and reduce injuries and the awards celebrate commitment to continuous improvement in accident prevention at work.
Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “To win an award at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA Awards is a great achievement for our winners. It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations.
“This year was doubly special for our winners as their achievements were recognised as the RoSPA Awards celebrated its diamond anniversary, which is a ringing endorsement of the thousands of businesses and organisations that have committed to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention.”
The majority of awards mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president’s awards and orders of distinction are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years.
Colin Wright, Construction Director at Peveril Homes, said: “We are honoured to be recognised for our long commitment to health and safety and the procedures we put in place across all our developments to keep our valued workforce safe.
“We set extremely high standards for ourselves and will continue to do so. Our team strives to adhere to the very best industry practices and implement training so that our staff are kept informed of the very latest legislation.”
