Construction Director Colin Wright receives prestigious LABC award

Peveril Homes is celebrating the achievements of one of its longest serving employees after the company’s Construction Director Colin Wright, recently collected the prestigious Chairman’s Award at the 2020 East Midlands LABC Building Excellence Awards.

The LABC network is the largest building control provider in England and Wales and the LABC Building Excellence Awards celebrate and recognise well-built, unique and exceptionally designed properties, precise specification, highly-skilled construction and the individuals behind it. This year’s awards were celebrated online, with the winners announced on Thursday 27th August.

Colin has been recognised for his 45 years of industry service after taking home this year’s Chairman’s Award. He joined Peveril Homes in 1987 and has been instrumental in the business maintaining its high build quality standards over the past three decades.

Previous to working for Peveril, Colin had enjoyed successful spells at Thomas Fish, Vic Hallam and H.

Hunt & Son. Over the years he’s occupied a number of construction-focused roles at Peveril Homes and immediately made his mark early on – gaining a reputation for consistency and a dedication to quality. His strong work ethic and likable approach saw him work his way up, eventually becoming the company’s Director for construction.

Since that time, Colin has consistently set high standards for how Peveril should conduct itself on site, working with site managers, partners and suppliers to ensure that health and safety and methods of construction hit the highest standards across all of the firm’s Midlands developments.

The Peveril team is preparing to bid a fond farewell to Colin after he recently announced his decision to retire in early 2021. For the company’s Director James Smith, this recent award-win is no more than Colin deserves.

He continues, “Colin has, without a doubt, created a lasting legacy at Peveril Homes and he is thoroughly deserving of this recognition at the 2020 East Midlands LABC Building Excellence Awards. On behalf of the entire team, we wish him many congratulations for a fantastic achievement.”

Colin is delighted to have been recognised by the LABC in this way and is quick to recognise those around him for the successes he’s enjoyed. “The news still hasn’t sunk in to be honest, I’m completely lost for words and it did come as a complete surprise!”

Colin continues, “I would first like to thank LABC Warranty for the award, followed by the entire team at Peveril Homes who without, I would not be enjoying this success. Any business is only as good as its people – and we have the best people in the business,”
