First impressions mean everything for first-time new build purchasers at Holborn Place

Choosing between buying either a new or previously owned home is a tricky decision that many purchasers have to make. For Rob Reynolds and his family at our Holborn Place development near Ripley, stepping into our show home made the decision to buy a new build incredibly easy, with positive word of mouth reviews reinforcing their initial gut feeling.

Rob and his family were living in rented accommodation and decided it was the right time to purchase their first home as a family and get back on the property ladder. They used the Government’s Help to Buy scheme to make affording a new build easier and moved into the property in mid-May this year.

For Rob, the decision to purchase new was not a straightforward one but a visit to our Holborn Place development near Ripley instantly made his mind up.

“We decided to view the show home with a small degree of caution – only because I’ve heard mixed stories about the benefits of new builds in the past. As soon as we walked into the show home at Holborn Place, we could see the quality and the high specification that goes into Peveril’s properties. The experience immediately opened my eyes further to the prospect of purchasing a new build,”

Rob and his family were aware of Peveril Homes, having lived only two miles from our Belper head office. A positive reputation and some knowledge of our ethos gave the family the peace of mind they needed to find out more and look to reserve their plot.

The family sat down with Julie Ord, our sales executive at Holborn Place, and after looking through all of the remaining homes that suited their needs and considering the options available, Rob knew that they’d found their dream property.

By using the government-backed Help to Buy scheme, the family were able to make moving more affordable. The scheme means that the Government lends up to 20% of the cost of a newly built property, leaving the purchaser with just a 5% cash deposit to pay and a 75% mortgage to make up the rest – with the buyer still owning 100% of the home.

Rob and his family were, therefore, able to move into their new home just four days after build completion in mid-May and are still glowing about the experience over a month later.
