What do you get if you cross four horses with a zebra, a bumble bee, Eeyore and a unicorn? An unforgettable fundraising event with a Peveril Homes family member.

In August our lovely Sales Executive Hazel Boaden helped to raise £1,300 for Cancer Research UK in support of her daughter.

At the beginning of lockdown, Alice was diagnosed with breast cancer. Together, the family decided to do something in support of Alice, so Hazel working with her youngest daughter, Pippa hosted a fancy dress pony hack. The money raised will be donated directly to breast cancer research at the charity.

Echo, Flossy, Murphy and Breeze put on their best disguises in a bid to raise as much as possible for the fantastic charity.

The ponies were ridden by Pippa and friends Farrah, Tori and Evie who initially set a target of £300, but they smashed it by 433% and counting.

We wanted to show our support to Hazel and her family and so Peveril Homes has donated £500 to the fundraising pot.

The event took place in Kegworth, Derbyshire with the support of Long Lane Equestrian and had a lasting effect on the ponies who after a good scrub were still showing their colourful spots and stripes for days.

Alice, who is currently undergoing treatment said: “Breast cancer was something which I never expected to have to think about at the age of 28, but it’s happening, and I am fighting back.

“I’m very proud of my mum and Pippa and really appreciate their hard work in arranging the charity pony hack..”

Alice is also keen to remind people to check themselves over regularly and added: “Don’t be afraid to go to the GP with any concerns you may have, no matter how small or trivial you think it may be.”

Hazel received a huge amount of support from the team at Peveril Homes and they all rallied together to help her raise as much as possible.

Alison Kendall, Sales and Marketing Director at Peveril Homes said: “Hazel is a highly valued member of the Peveril team and we wanted to do as much as possible to support her family during this difficult time.

“When we heard about Pippa’s pony hack, we offered to donate to such an important cause. It’s obviously very close to our hearts especially as it’s impacting a member of the Peveril Homes family.”
