We made a £5,000 donation towards Alfreton Park School’s new outdoor play area!
We have made a significant contribution of £5,000 towards Alfreton Park School’s new outdoor play area project – which is set to open in 2021 alongside its new school building.
Alfreton Park School specialises in supporting 120 children with both mental and physical disabilities and Derby City Council recently committed £12m of funding to the construction of a new school – with work set to start in May 2020 for a September 2021 opening.
However, the funds for the new school did not cover the £55,000 needed to build an outdoor play area and specialist gym – crucial for the children’s learning and development.
When we heard about the plight of Alfreton Park’s outdoor area and the difference it will make to the students, our team immediately decided to step in and make a project-changing contribution.
Neil Vaughan, Chairman of Business and Fundraising at Rotary Amber Valley, who initially made contact with our team about donations towards the project, is delighted to see local businesses coming to the aid of Alfreton Park School to transform its dreams into reality with the £55,000 total required now successfully secured.
“The response we’ve had from our appeal has been overwhelming and we owe the local community of Alfreton and the wider network of businesses across Derbyshire a huge debt of thanks,” says Neil.
“Peveril Homes came straight back to us with an offer of £5,000 towards the play area and the difference this money will make to the children cannot be undervalued. They have to battle with a range of disabilities on a daily basis and as part of their learning experience, it’s crucial that they have somewhere safe and secure outside where they can interact, learn and grow,”
“On behalf of the children, the school and the Amber Valley Rotary Club, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Peveril for this incredibly generous donation.”
Alison Kendall, our Director of Sales and Marketing is delighted that we were able to step in and make a difference to a project that will significantly transform young people’s lives on a local level.
“We’re a housebuilder that has families and community at its heart – whether that’s through building new homes, going above and beyond our Section 106 obligations or completing CSR projects,”
“When Neil approached us and explained why the money was needed, it really was a no brainer for us to put forward a contribution. We understand the difference that this project will make for the learning and development of the children at Alfreton Park School and we look forward to seeing them making the most of it when construction is completed in two years time.”
