We’re proud to sponsor Derby Book Festival as the country comes out of lockdown and begins enjoying public events
We’re incredibly excited to be sponsoring Derby Book Festival for the fourth year running and joining in celebrations as the UK gradually comes out of lockdown.
It’s looking like Derby Book Festival, which runs from 27th May to 5th June, will be the first festival in the UK to hold in-person events since lockdown, should all go to plan.
This year’s hybrid festival has an exciting mixture of in-person, live streamed, recorded, virtual and outdoor events hosted across the city, with something for everyone.
Over 60 events are planned for the 10 days and will be held across 10 excellent venues throughout Derby.
During the festival, two of the most celebrated political commentators of recent times, BBC North America Editor Jon Sopel will be giving his take on the Trump election and presidency, and BBC Special Correspondent James Naughtie will be sharing his experience of covering the US elections from Nixon to Trump.
Poetry lovers can enjoy two events with Hollie McNish and Brian Bilston and Jasper Rees, authorised biographer of Victoria Wood, will be talking about his biography Let’s Do It.
Other notable speakers and guests in the line-up include: Monique Roffey, Stuart Turton, John Preston, Christie Watson while Catriona Ward will be in conversation with Sarah Ward. The Kanneh-Mason family will also be heavily featured with Navtej Johal and there will be performances from Aminata and Konya Kannah-Mason.
For our Sales and Marketing Director, Alison Kendall, being part of the Derby Book Festival is always an important event in the Peveril Homes calendar but this year it’s even more important, as it signifies a light at the end of the tunnel from the pandemic. She commented: “There are some incredibly big names this year and it’s an honour to be a part of the Derby Book Festival. We missed it in 2020 and we are thrilled that it’s able to take place this year.
"We’ve successfully partnered with the festival for what will now be four consecutive years and it’s a pleasure to be involved again.”
Liz Fothergill CBE, Chair of Derby Book Festival said, "In a difficult year for everyone we are particularly grateful to Peveril Homes for their continuing support of the city's cultural life through sponsorship of Derby Book Festival."
Over 60 events will take place in a variety of venues including Derby College, Déda, Derby Theatre, Derby Museums, Darley Abbey Village Hall and five local parks.
