We’ve donated £1,000 to lifesaving local heroes and charity, Derbyshire Blood Bikes!
We’ve contributed £1,000 to local charity, Derbyshire Blood Bikes, who provide an urgent medical courier service to the NHS in Derby. The cheque handover took place at our new development site, Lily Street Farm.
Karina Lang, our Marketing Co-ordinator presented Mark Vallis from the Derbyshire Blood Bikes charity with a £1,000 cheque and expressed her gratitude towards the charity and its tremendous efforts over the years.
She said: "We’re delighted to have contributed to such a wonderful local charity.
“The team keeping Derbyshire Blood Bikes up and running do an incredible job of transporting lifesaving medical supplies to NHS sites across Derbyshire.
“I speak for all at Peveril Homes when I say how proud we are to support and commend our local volunteers in their heroic efforts.”
Derbyshire Blood Bikes is part of a national network of blood bike groups which covers most of the UK and Ireland. The groups are run by volunteers who raise and rely on their own funds, and that’s why it’s important to us to support causes such as this one every year.
Over the years, hospitals’ demand on the Derbyshire Blood Bikes charity has increased significantly and the group’s vision ‘to help save lives and the NHS money’ certainly does not go amiss.
In 2020, the charity had made over 8,300 journeys and saved our local NHS over £100,000 on transport costs. This helped in the treatment of thousands of NHS patients residing in Derby, and the charity hopes to continue doing so for many more years.
