Peveril Homes ensure a stress-free lockdown move for Silk Field’s latest residents
When we entered the first lockdown at the start of the year, we were all uncertain about how it would turn out. It was a stressful time for most of us, without the added challenges of moving to a new house.
Emma and Peter Buckle found themselves facing this exact situation earlier this year when their planned house move ended up taking place during these uncertain times.
Emma and Peter were ready to upgrade from their two-bed bungalow to a more spacious property closer to the hospital where they both work. After a little searching, they found a home they adored in the popular Derbyshire suburb of Mickleover at Peveril Homes’ Silk Fields development.
To help minimise the pressure of selling their bungalow, the couple opted to use our MovePlus Assisted Purchase scheme which allowed them to relax and start looking forward to their house move.
MovePlus Assisted Purchase is designed to provide our customers with a seamless and stress-free experience, Peveril Homes arrange two independent valuations of your current property. Once we’ve agreed on a selling price, the nominated agents will actively market your existing house and you can reserve your chosen Peveril plot, which will be placed on hold in your name for up to 6 weeks.
When your home has a confirmed buyer, we’ll finalise the formal reservation on your Peveril home, meaning you can get moving and Peveril Homes will pay your estate agent fees on legal completion, leaving you more money for your finishing touches.
With the support of the MovePlus Assisted Purchase scheme, Emma and Peter were able to reserve their new home with confidence, safe in the knowledge that Peveril Homes were taking care of all the arrangements to ensure a smooth move from their bungalow into Silk Fields.
Having agreed an offer on their bungalow within 24 hours of it going on the market, Emma felt sure that things would start to move quickly from that point, however the coronavirus pandemic meant that the whole moving process came to an abrupt halt.
At the same time, they began to feel pressure from their buyer to progress the sale. The Buckle family were concerned that the sale of their former home would fall through if they couldn’t continue their house purchase with Peveril Homes. Emma said: “It was an extremely stressful time as our buyer was keen to move quickly.”
Fortunately, as Emma and Peter had chosen a Peveril home, help was close at hand. “Peveril called telling us everything would be ok and that Government guidelines would allow us to move. This put our minds at ease and we couldn’t have asked for anything more from them regarding support and communication.”
“We were working very long shifts and had very little free time to organise things, so Peveril Homes arranged for us to have a licence to occupy. This allowed us to move our furniture into the home prior to legal completion, even though we couldn’t live there yet.
“This was a huge relief; with the licence we knew we could book the removal company and move our belongings to the house. We can’t thank Peveril enough for organising this for us.”
Peveril Homes only agree to provide a licence to occupy in exceptional circumstances. Howeve knowing that our purchasers were working for the NHS and at the forefront of saving lives, working long hours and with no flexibility to take time off, we felt it was the least we could do at this challenging time to ease some of the pressure they were under and try and make their move as stress free as possible.
Soon after, Emma and Peter were able to fully move into their new Peveril home which they absolutely love. They’re thrilled with their characterful home in our Silk Fields development and would wholeheartedly recommend both Peveril Homes and our MovePlus Assisted Purchase scheme.
We’re so happy that Emma and Peter have safely moved in and are enjoying living in their new home. We cannot thank them and the rest of their colleagues in the NHS enough for all they’re doing for us in these challenging times.
