Peveril Home’s Holywell Mill Development Was The Only Choice For One Family
Peveril Home’s Holywell Mill development was the only choice for one family
When news broke that Peveril Homes was reinvigorating the land that a 19th century flour mill once sat on and were turning it into stunning, contemporary 3 and 4 bedroom homes, the Williamson family reached out to be one of the first on the reservation list.
The Holywell Flour Mill in Ashby-de-la-Zouch burned down in 2018, opening up incredible opportunities to transform a previously derelict space into unique, spacious homes in a highly sought after location.
The Holywell Mill development is a distinctive fusion of modern and traditional with the external architecture incorporating some of the brickwork displayed on the original Mill building in a contemporary pattern, utilising some of the old brick laying skills not often used today. The sedum rooves to the external bike and bin stores and the eye-catching tile rooves to the houses all add to the special ambience of this development located only a short walk from the ever popular Ashby-de-la-Zouch town centre and all that it has to offer.
This unique, private gated development of only 19, 3 and 4 bedroom spacious homes is accessed via electric gates and offers residents the perfect blend of town centre and countryside living with the National Forest being only a short drive away. Visitors to the development are greeted by the large name stone at the entrance to the site which is a direct replica of the one on the original flour mill.
Lucy Williamson, who moved in on 25 September with her husband and two daughters, three-year-old Elsie and one-year-old Primrose, said: “As soon as we heard there was planning permission for the Holywell Mill development we expressed our interest, because we loved the idea of living there.
“Location is vital for us and it’s very rare to secure beautiful, family homes in the centre of town and so we were ready and waiting to move in as soon as the development opened.”
Lucy and her family opted for one of the two Chilwell style plots, a 3-bedroom detached home, she added: “It’s so spacious, we’re all in love with our new forever home. We were already thinking about moving because we needed more living space and this house gives us exactly what we were looking for, plus the location is exactly where we want to be.”
The Chilwell home welcomes you through the door to a grand glass walled lobby. Natural light penetrates the spacious living room and open plan kitchen diner whilst upstairs a two-way staircase leads onto an airy landing. Head one way for the master bedroom complete with dressing room and en-suite and another for a further two bedrooms and family bathroom.
While moving into their dream home was delayed due to coronavirus, Lucy and her family have been thrilled by the support from Peveril Homes, particularly from Sales Executive Hazel Boaden.
“Hazel was so lovely,” Lucy continued: “We had previously moved from a new build but it was an entirely different experience. The Sales Executive there had put quite a lot of pressure on us to do things which were out of our control.
“However Hazel at Peveril Homes took the time to always keep us up to date and ensured everything moved forward as it should. We never felt pressured, she was really nice and took the effort to put us at ease.”
With the support of Hazel, the Williamson’s also took advantage of the Peveril Homes’ MovePlus Assisted Purchase Scheme and Help to Buy Scheme.
Lucy added: “The MovePlus Assisted Purchase Scheme was a great help. Because we knew we wanted to buy a home at Holywell Mill we’d already been in touch with lots of different agents to get our property valued.”
“We thought by using the MovePlus Assisted Purchase Scheme we’d receive a lot less for our home, but we were pleasantly surprised when it was valued at the price we expected. The scheme worked well, and we got an offer for our asking price within a week which was great.”
Lucy has also had amazing feedback from visitors to their new Chilwell home who have been stunned by the modern, contemporary design not often found in other new developments.
Lucy said: “It’s an unusual house style and we loved it, it’s so different to other new builds. The home is very spacious and has plenty of light. Everyone that comes to visit says they’ve never seen a build like ours and that just makes it so special.”
