Smooth purchase experience leaves couple smitten with their dream home at The Mallards
Moving house can be a stressful experience with so much to prepare, think about and sort ahead of the big day. For anyone completing a move immediately after lockdown, you would understand a heightened sense of concern but, thanks to regular communication alongside due care and attention, we were able to make moving home as smooth as silk for Ryan and Matthew at The Mallards in Bilsthorpe.
The couple first found the development on Rightmove and made contact with Sales Executive Donna on the 8th February to arrange a viewing and find out all of the necessary information. Ryan and Matthew were looking for their dream property together in Nottinghamshire. Matthew had an existing property to sell while Ryan was a first-time buyer.
As Ryan explains, as soon as the couple first visited The Mallards and started to learn more from Donna about the plots and options open to them, a move was definitely on the cards.
“We instantly fell in love with the site and the house,” says Ryan. “We love the intimacy of The Mallards and the fact that it’s a smaller development close to the countryside. The plots have character, the gardens don’t overlook one another and as soon as we walked through the door of plot 19, The Broadwater, we just knew that this was where we wanted to call home,”
The Broadwater is a 3-bedroom semi-detached corner property boasting a sizable master bedroom with en-suite as well as an open-plan living and dining area. It also benefits from a contemporary kitchen, downstairs toilet and two additional bedrooms upstairs with a family bathroom.
As Ryan points out, with the Broadwater being a corner plot, its alternative layout was a real plus point for the couple – cementing their gut instinct that this was the home for them.
“We loved how different the Broadwater was when compared to anything else we’d seen. It’s quirky layout gives it a unique character of its own and that was the real draw for us. The space in the master bedroom and living area blew us away. The garden is a perfect size for us to make the most of in the summer months and we have ample double parking at the side of the house. I’ll admit we’re not gardeners, but to have somewhere outdoors where we can relax that’s manageable for both of us, is perfect. It’s everything we could have asked for and more,”
It wasn’t just the plot and the development that charmed Ryan and Matthew. After speaking to Donna in early February, the couple had made up their minds by the following Tuesday and reserved the home of their dreams in the same week. From then on, despite the uncertainties surrounding coronavirus, the couple found the entire process simple and smooth from start to finish, as Matthew explains.
“I was selling my existing home so we decided to use Peveril’s Move Plus Assisted Purchase Scheme to market and sell my property while buying our new home. We’re so pleased we did because it was one less thing for us to think about. My house sold really quickly, which allowed us to then focus on our new home – even with circumstances changing around us due to COVID,”
Lockdown started just as the couple finalised the necessary paperwork with the solicitors. The move was delayed temporarily for safety reasons however, Ryan and Matthew found the comfort and the reassurance they needed after speaking to Donna and the team.
“Donna was fantastic with us!” says Ryan. “Throughout the entire purchase process, she was professional, personable and incredibly helpful. Donna is one of the main reasons we moved to The Mallards really. She put us at ease straight away and gave us a good feeling that this was the place for us. She just made the entire process easy,”
“During lockdown, we were informed every step of the way and even when Donna was away for a short time, Sue looked after us superbly and provided us with answers to any questions we had. If there were any updates regarding the site or the move date, we were the first to know,”
Ryan adds, “Sometimes it’s the small things that make a big difference and with Donna and the team, everyone was happy to go the extra mile for us. Donna even measured the space for the blinds before we moved in so that we could get them ordered during lockdown. It doesn’t sound like a lot but when you’re preparing to move and there’s added uncertainty, that kind of support is really appreciated,”
The couple were able to move into their dream property on the 29th May once our new safety measures were in place to protect purchasers, staff and the local community. As it happens, moving day was just two days after Ryan’s birthday – creating a truly memorable week all round for the young couple.
“Moving with Peveril has just been smooth,” adds Ryan. “That’s the word that springs to mind. The team is professional and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. It was nice to be able to celebrate moving and my birthday in the same week – we will never forget that time and how special it was for us,”
He continues, “Even after being in the property for almost a month, we’re still receiving lovely emails from Donna asking if we’re okay and if she can help us in any way. We moved during arguably one of the most challenging times imaginable but thanks to Peveril, it didn’t feel like a challenge at all and we’re delighted to be able to call The Mallards our home.”
